Its amazing how much variety that is offered right in Studio City. Don’t you worry, you wont have to drive far for these activities. So lets get right to it shall we!

First up is for the all the Golf and Tennis fans out there. I am combining those two because Studio City is home to Weddington Golf & Tennis. From 7AM to 11PM, there are 24 stalls in total and you have a choice between a small, medium or large bucket to play from. Prices range from $5 to a small, $8.25 for a medium and $11 for a large. Stalls are a great way for newcomers who are just starting out in this wonderful sport and are just learning the basics, to the experience player who is really trying to perfect that swing. Its for everyone! Next there is the golf course. A par 3 9 hole golf course to be exact! With elevated greens and tight fairways, there is a challenge for all levels. Its a place for aspiring pros as well as family outings. Next up is Tennis! There are a total of 16 tennis courts to choose form. Yes, 16! And there are a lot of choices in how to utilize them. Either it be just family fun or taking part in one of the specialized cliniques, a private lesson or even partake in one of the tournaments. There is so much to offer. From 7am to 10pm on weekdays and 7am to midnight on weekends, their hourly rates range from $11 to $19. Oh, and can’t forget about Tennis Camp for the youngsters. A great way to introduce such a wonderful sport to the kids.

Next up, Bowling! Not far from Weddington Golf & Tennis, is Pinz. After just completing its 2 million dollar renovation, Pinz is a premiere bowling location in los angeles. There is so much this place has to offer. First up of course is the bowling. 32 lanes in total. Some of the key features are Runner lights on all lanes, an automatic scoring system on 32″ monitors and 3D graphics, multiple 9.5 foot screen. Plus there are daytime Leagues as well as evening Leagues broken up by Ladies, Seniors and Junior Leagues.  Other offerings at Pinz is the arcade that holds 40 state of the art games, plus air hockey and billiards. In addition, there is a VIP billiard room with a capacity of 45 people. There is 2 billiard tables, a plasma TV and lots of couches to relax on. Then there is Guys North, AKA The Club at Pinz. Welcome back to my second installment of “Events and Must Do’s near homes in Studio City”. As I said in my last post I have few more must do’s and events within Studio City. So lets get to it shall we?

First up is something I think everyone enjoys any day of the week and that is shopping! Studio City is an outstanding place to take the day off and stroll up and down Ventura Blvd. and shop to your hearts content. Were talking almost a mile long of shopping. Talk about shop till you drop. From furniture, clothing of course, jewelry, music stores to antiques. Its all there. You won’t be disappointed! Here are two very good resources for finding your favorite shops. One is from one of the best sites out there, Yelp. They have a Studio City shopping section here. Another very good resource is Studio City’s Chamber of Commerce site and there members list found here.

Next up is an event that is held 4 times a year and has been for the last 25 years! It’s practically a Studio City tradition so its a must see. That is the Art Fair. You can expect to see about 140 independent artists selling original works for all types of art lovers. The show has been a great success for years. It usually see’s about 5,000 visitors each time. Its held at Moorpark Park located at the intersection of Laurel Canyon and Moorpark from 10AM – 5PM. What’s even better then supporting independent artists? A good portion of the proceeds go to numerous charities for different causes. Its kinda like one of those win win situations. Everyone makes out on top.

Last but certainly not least is the one and only Studio City Farmers Market held every Sunday morning on Ventura Place from 8am – 1pm. If you’ve never been to a Farmers Market then this is a must do! Without questions. Any Farmers Market is a must do really. Its the only place were you get everything fresh and direct from local farms. From produce to products like soaps, lotions, oils, jewelry and more. Flowers and baked goods. You name it. Its there, fresh and direct so you are always gonna get the best price.

Well these are some of the top must do’s in Studio City. So when your considering finding homes in Studio City, just remember that your not only going to find an outstanding home, but also and outstanding community!

Events and Must Do’s near homes in Studio City

So what is there to do in the great city of Studio City? Plenty! I’ll go thru some of the favorite must do’s and local events happening in Studio City.

First up is T.V. show tapings. Well its not called Studio City for nothing. One of the best Studio’s to view show tapings is at the CBS Studio Center. Its located at 4024 Radford Avenue. Some of the top shows are taped there such as That 70′s Show, CSI: New York and Will & Grace. This is fun for everyone and you get a peek inside what really goes into making a top Television show. There are 2 ways you can find out about tickets. One is to visit their website at cbss.com or you use a 3rd party service such as tvtickets.com or call (818) 753-3470. Check em out. It’s a lot of fun!

Since were on the topic of TV, we might as well talk about movies. Close by is Universal Studio’s and one of the best attractions to take to get a taste of movie magic is the Universal Studio’s Tour. It has sets from classic and modern films. And if your lucky, you might get to actually see a live taping in progress of an upcoming film. This is an often occurrence actually. It’s gerat to see. Usually everyone on the tram has to be quiet. Just like they say “quiet on the set!”. You can call (818)662-3801 to order tickets.

Feel like something in great outdoors? How about visiting the Coldwater Canyon Park. Its located at 12601 Mulholland Dr. Its a 44 acre park where you can hike, discover a tree nursery and organic garden. And don’t forget to visit the Tree People! Yes, you read right. The Tree People. This is an organization that takes care of this amazing park without any public funding. They just love this place.

The homes in studio city have access to so many things. And this is just the beginning. I have 4 more locations I will discuss in my next post. So stay tuned!!

The Weddington Golf Course in Studio City

So one of the “not so hidden” gems of Studio City is the Weddington Golf Course, formerly know as Studio City Golf and Driving Range. I has been in the area for over 50 years and is adored by the residents of Studio City.

But lately it has been under threat of being sold and over developed. Granted, its a huge pieces of prime real estate in the heart of Studio City, but it being such a landmark for over 50 years, the residents of Studio City love this place and do not want to see this green space taken away. There have been other proposals made. One of them by City Councilman Paul krekorian.

Click on the video below to view Paul Krekorian updating the the residents of Studio City at a Studio City Residents Association Meeting.

One of the earlier proposals were to build between 200 to 500 units…… originally ….. for seniors. But the majority of Studio City residents feel strongly that it would create severe traffic and environmental issues. Amazingly enough, for a century, the golf course has been owned by the same family. But they just don’t see how the city can spend so much money to purchase the land and then turn it into a park since they are not profitable and are always endangered of closing. So they seem more interested is selling to a housing developer. But the local residents are strongly against the idea and are fighting hard to keep it a green space. Either it being a golf course, park or trails. Anything but a high rise with hundreds of units that has a tremendous impact on the quality of life, congestion and air quality. It could possibly reduce the value of existing homes in Studio City if thats the case.

If you’d like to show your support to keep the Weddington Golf Course, go to their facebook page and Like them and let your voice be heard by commenting on their wall.

I will post any new updates regarding this hot issue as new proposals arise or move forward.

Some of the top locations for homes in Studio City

Hi everyone. Well first off I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Today I would like to talk about a few locations in Studio City that are excellent to live in. What’s so interesting about Studio City is that a large portion is on flat land and another large portion is in the hills. The hills can be accessed different ways and I am going to talk about that today.

There are 3 ways to enter the hills of Studio City. The main way is through Laurel Canyon and turning on either Fryman Road or Dona Pegita before you hit Mullholland. Fryman Road is not as twisty as the other location and the road doesn’t get as steep. Also, the houses are more set into a canyon then on an edge of a hill side so the views are very different. You do get access to certain areas like the Betty B Dearing Trail which is part of Fryman Canyon Park that all of the residents living in homes in studio city get access too. Living off of Laurel Canyon gives you quick access to West Hollywood as well.

The second way would be going through Coldwater Canyon between Ventura Blvd and Mulholland. A lot of homes in Studio City off of Coldwater are on the hill side and get excellent views. Also Coldwater gives you quick access to Beverly Hills.

The third way to enter the hills of Studio City is right off Ventura Blvd. If you go west down Ventura Blvd from Laurel Canyon, you will hit Laurel Terrace Dr. From there you will make a left up into the hills. Because if you go right, its Whitsett Ave. Anyways, so once you go up Laurel Terrace Dr, it will split into Laurel Terrace Dr. and Sunswept Dr. Go right onto Sunswept Dr. and there it will take you up into the hills rather quickly. A part of the drive is actually very scenic because as you drive up and go through the twists and turns, you will soon drive along the mountain side and see the incredible views that local residents enjoy every single day. So that’s an excellent area if you want a home with views of Studio city.

I will discuss other locations next week,
Have a great weekend!

Facts & Landmarks near Homes in Studio City IV

So I am back again to talk to you about a subject very important to me and I think to most of you as well and that is Education and its districts near homes in studio city. To me it is an utmost priority. So what are your school options for you child or even for yourself when living in Studio City? Well lets take a look shall we?

First of all, Studio City is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. So when it comes to public school options you have the following. The best and most hight sought after elementary schools is the Carpenter Avenue Elementary School. It is very famous and one of the best and safest schools out there in the entire LAUSD. It is also a Charter School. It was established in 1924 so it has a long history of excellence. You can’t find a better elementary school anywhere else in Los Angeles in my opinion. Other public school options are Colfax Charter Elementary School, Rio Vista Elementary School, Walter Reed Middle School and North Hollywood High.

Then there are private school. Your private school options are Cambell Hall . It can’t be beat and get this, they are doubling their campus as we speak. There is a huge construction project going on right now at Cambell Hall. Bigger, state of the art class room, Indoor sport facilities. You name it! You thought Cambell Hall was great before? Well its gonna get way better and position itself as the premiere private high school in all of Los Angeles county. Other private school options are Oakwood Elementary School, Harvard Westlake School and Bridges Academy. Oakwood is a very interesting school. I would almost consider it a magnet school cause it is very artistic driven. And Harvard Westlake is a very prestigious school as well.

So you have several excellent options for education when living in studio City. From public to private. Its amazing how so much is packed in to this amazing city.

Till next time!

Facts & Landmarks near homes in Studio City III

So lets get right back in to it shall we? I’d like to talk about some of my more unique and hidden favorite landmarks of mine near the homes in Studio City. The first one, and also very memorable one on is the good ol’ Studio City Movie Theater. This place was such a pivotal landmark for me growing up in Studio City. It really completed Studio City in my opinion. With it, you could go out on a Saturday night and go shopping, have dinner and then go see a movie and then go out for drinks later. It really made a night out on the town all within Studio City possible. But by the powers that be, it was for some reason sold to BookStar and turned into a Book Store. Why this is, I have no idea. I mean, movies on timeless. We will always watch movies. How can a movie theater in such a prime location not succeed?? It was the only movie theater too so it wasn’t like there was any competition. But you know what? I bet you all the money it the world that the movie theater will come back. You know why? Cause book stores are slowly becoming obsolete. Think about it. Most people are either ordering books on Amazon.com or downloading books on their Amazon Kindle or Apple iPad and its a growing market. Lets hope so because this is one landmark that definitely needs to come back!

Facts & Landmarks near homes in Studio City II

So for this installment for Facts & Landmarks near homes in Studio City, I would like to share a few of my favorites. Did you know that Studio City used to be called Rancho Ex-Mission. It was name studio city cause someone by the name of Mack Sennett build a new studio on 20 acres of land. Everything else seemed to follow. I mean it makes sense that it would be name because of a studio and everything was built around it since so many residents work in film and TV. Ya know, its almost like Studio City is as if you combined Hollywood, Beverly Hills and a touch of Melrose and this is what you get. That’s amazing! Boy I love this city. Who wouldn’t?!?

Remember how in my last article was mentioned how the Brady Bunch house in located in Studio City? Well thats not the only film house. There is also the very house used in the hit TV show Malcolm in the Middle. It’s located at 12334 Cantura St. Ah, but there is one more. Also the house that was used in the very classic and very beloved Gidget starring the darling Annette Funicello . Its located at Hortense and Beeman. Oh and one last one is from the TV show Scrubs. Do you remember the Sacred Heart. That! What was located in Stduio City. Don’t you love movie trivia?

Till next time folks

Facts & Landmarks near homes in Studio City I

Hey everyone, Tammy Jerome here again. I thought I would share some interesting facts about Studio City. First of all, it covers 7 square miles of land. That a lot of space for full of a lot of things. It really packs one serious punch in just 7 miles of land when you compare it to Sherman Oaks which is 8 square miles but it doesnt nearly have the charm, elegance and fun factor as Studio City. Next, as of 2008, it popluation was counted at 37,000 residents. In comparision, Sherman Oaks has 52,000 residents. So sherman oaks is bigger by only one mile and has 13000 more residents. So not only does studio city have more to do, in less space but not nearly as overcrowded as sherman oaks. I think now your starting to see why I love Studio City so much. Studio City main zip code is 91604. Do you know any others? Leave a comment below and let me know.

Some of its most famous Landmarks are for one, it is where the house was used for the exteriror shots for the hit TV show The Brady Bunch. It’s located at 1164 Morning Glory Circle in Studio City. I love seeing it person since I was a huge fan of the Brady Bunch. Now if I could onlky the Munsters house.

Another hidden gem of a landmark is the Los Angeles River Walk. Its one of the msot most sought after street to live on cause close to a flow of water and is an excellent are to go for that morning walk or jog or even just stroll with a loved one. And it really keep the noisy traffic away from your home. Its one of the most quietest street in studio city aside from being in the Hills. Its a realy gem of an area!

Well I have more landmarks to talk about and I will post those up tomorros in part II of this series.

Until then,

Variety of the Valley

One of the things that make Studio City different from all the rest of the cities in Los Angeles is its variety. In style, affordability, entertainment. Everything. There really is something for everyone in one place. Its almost like a mini Los Angeles, but within a single city. Romanov Restaurant & Lounge First, geographically, you have the hills for the flat lands. That’s pretty far to have mountain hill side living with gorgeous views of the city scrape, and at the same time play of flat land living all wrapped up in a safe area. Cause unlike Hollywood, it’s safe in the hills but not so safe in the flat lands. Trust me on this one. Next up, Entertainment. You can find all levels of restaurants and shopping in one place. Urban Outfitters To Romanov Restaurant & Lounge, a elegant Russian steakhouse and lounge, to honestly, Mc Donalds and everything in between. And don’t for get the shopping. Urban Outfitter Urban outfitters, Stacy Todd, and Turquoise Boutique. It’s got it all. Not to mention, Studio City if full of celebrities. Miley Cyrus Some living there, some just go there for the shopping and to get away from the craziness in Beverly Hills.
